Potassium perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS-K, CAS 2795-39-3) is a high-stability organofluorine surfactant with excellent surface activity.

It suppresses chromium acid mist in electroplating via stable foam formation, and also acts as a wetting agent and fluoroprotein fire foam additive. Its perfluorinated carbon chain endows it with hydrophobic and oleophobic performance.

Persistent and bioaccumulative, PFOS-K is strictly restricted under the Stockholm Convention for use only where no alternatives exist. It should be stored sealed in 25 kg drums and kept below 300°C to avoid hazardous thermal decomposition.

Potassium perfluorooctanesulfonate (PFOS-K, CAS 2795-39-3) is an organofluorine surfactant with excellent chemical stability and surface activity. As the potassium salt of perfluorooctanesulfonic acid, it suppresses chromium mist in electroplating by forming stable foam to reduce toxic acid mist emissions. It also functions as a wetting agent and fluoroprotein fire foam additive. Its perfluorinated C8 chain and sulfonate group endow the product with both hydrophobic and oleophobic properties.
