Aluminum magnesium silicate is available in white powder, granular or flake form. It is a multifunctional pharmaceutical excipient, acting as adsorbent, stabilizer, suspending agent, tablet and capsule disintegrant, binder and thickener. Added to diclofenac sodium aqueous gels, it greatly increases viscosity and changes fluid property from Newtonian to pseudoplastic with thixotropy, improving gel texture and stability.
