Ammonium Polyphosphate (APP) is a non-toxic, halogen-free flame retardant synthesized from polyphosphoric acid and ammonia. It has two main grades: APP Phase I: Short linear chains with n<100, water sensitive and decomposable above 150 °C. APP Phase II: High-polymerized branched structure with n>1000, low water solubility, high thermal stability, decomposition temperature over 300 °C, serving as a premium halogen-free flame retardant.

Ammonium Polyphosphate (APP) is an eco-friendly halogen-free flame retardant widely applied in coatings, paints and engineering plastics. As a key component of intumescent flame retardant systems, it can be used alone or compounded with other materials for flame retarding textiles, paper, fibers and wood. High-concentration grades with up to 50% P/N are available for special uses. APP also serves as a fertilizer, typically with N-P₂O₅-K₂O ratios of 10-34-0 or 11-37-0. Featuring high nutrient content, good stability and fine compatibility with micronutrients, polyphosphate fertilizers allow long-term storage and effectively supply plant nutrients.
