High-purity industrial mineral oil (white oil), with a minimum content of 99%, is a colorless, transparent liquid with almost no odor and excellent chemical stability. It has a melting point of approximately −15 °C and a broad boiling range of 300–500 °C, making it suitable for use over a wide temperature range. At 25 °C, it has an extremely low vapor pressure of 0.0001 hPa and a relative density of 0.85 at 20 °C. Insoluble in water, readily soluble in ether and chloroform, and slightly soluble in ethanol. Stable under normal conditions; avoid contact with strong oxidizing agents.

High-purity mineral oil (white oil) is a versatile industrial and laboratory chemical with multiple critical applications. It serves as a protective overlay for culture media in petri dish experiments and is a key ingredient in baby lotions, cold creams, ointments and cosmetics. In electrical and mechanical fields, it functions as thermal transfer fluid, non-conductive cooling medium, transformer oil, cutting blade anti-rust coating and high-voltage switchgear insulator. It is also used for storing reactive metals like lithium and sodium, and as a suspension medium in X-ray crystallography.
